TOM'S CURRENT PROJECT

Whilst my main focus is my art work, I also have other projects which use my skills and creativity to. Below are a couple of projects which have been under way over the last year.

Mister Tambourine Man: Hero's of Northumberland
This statue at Seaton Delaval was once a willow tree; whose ancient ancestors became coal, now transformed to honor the 204 men who died on the 16th of January 1862 and dedicated to all coal miners of the world.

Starting out it's life as a statue as the remains of a tree. Getting ready to have its outer beauty shed and have a new beauty revealed.

Art is spread on the earth, but people do not see it.

The Star of Hope had sunk in Seaton Sluice Harbour and was destined to be scrapped. As the first coble built in Northumberland with the new revolutionary tunnel for the propeller, it deserved to be saved!

This is the Star of Hope a Northumberland built coble which was in danger of sinking before I rescued it and restored it to its former glory.  The boat now sits beside the harbour at Seaton Sluice for the community and visitors to enjoy.

Like the ribs of a beached whale, the Star of Hope lies at the side of the harbour as restoration gets underway

The boat was originally built in 1964 for the fishing fleet by Northumberland boat builder Hector Handyside, who whilst retired, still lives in Amble.

The Star of Hope, in all its glory stands proud, with the Union Jack and Northumberland flag fluttering in the summer breeze
